Flipkart has strengthened its technology leadership team with the appointment of Smita Ojha as Vice President of Engineering and Amit Sharma as Vice President of Program Management, as the e-commerce major sharpens its focus on AI-led growth and scalable digital infrastructure.
The company said the appointments are part of its broader strategy to expand core technology capabilities and drive long-term value creation through its OneTech organisation — Flipkart’s integrated product and technology division responsible for managing digital experiences across platforms.
Ojha, who joins from Mindtickle, will lead the Central Platforms Group within OneTech. Bringing more than two decades of experience in engineering leadership, she is expected to play a key role in strengthening platform architecture and accelerating technology innovation at scale.
Sharma, meanwhile, will oversee the Technical Program Management function for OneTech. He brings over 25 years of industry experience and previously served as Director at Amazon. His professional background also includes leadership roles at Accenture and WNS, with expertise spanning large-scale programme execution and operational transformation.
Commenting on the appointments, Flipkart Chief Product and Technology Officer Balaji Thiagarajan said the company is entering its “next phase of growth” with a strong emphasis on AI-native transformation. He added that leadership investments across engineering and programme management remain central to building future-ready capabilities.
Smita Ojha, Vice President, Engineering, Flipkart, said, “The opportunity to work on homegrown platforms that operate at this scale is incredibly compelling. I look forward to collaborating with the team to further strengthen our engineering foundations and enable innovation across Flipkart’s ecosystem.”
Amit Sharma, Vice President, Program Management, Flipkart, said, “Flipkart’s scale and ambition present a unique opportunity to drive impactful program execution within an increasingly AI-led landscape. I look forward to augmenting the program management charter and enabling high-quality, scalable outcomes across the organization.”
According to the company statement, the new appointments are expected to support Flipkart’s evolving innovation roadmap as competition intensifies in India’s fast-growing digital commerce ecosystem.
The leadership expansion comes at a time when major technology and e-commerce firms are increasingly restructuring teams around artificial intelligence, automation, and platform scalability to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
