Basan Gouda S Takes Charge as Vice President and Head IT and CISO at JSW Energy

JSW Energy Ltd has strengthened its technology leadership with the appointment of Basan Gouda S as Vice President and Head – IT & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). In this role, he will oversee the company’s technology ecosystem and cybersecurity agenda, supporting its expanding portfolio across conventional and renewable energy businesses.
Basab Gouda brings more than 28 years of professional experience across the energy, manufacturing, cement and infrastructure industries. His career has involved leading technology-driven transformation programmes, improving operational efficiency and building teams focused on delivering measurable business value.
At JSW Energy, his responsibilities span a broad technology mandate that includes IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, SAP and non-SAP platforms, cloud technologies, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), IoT and Industrial IoT (IIoT), manufacturing technologies and cybersecurity governance.
A key priority of his role will be to strengthen the technology foundation supporting JSW Energy’s business operations while enabling the organisation to adopt digital solutions at scale. His mandate covers technology enablement across areas including power generation, transmission, renewable energy and emerging businesses within the energy landscape.
Basan has developed expertise in enterprise technology planning, cybersecurity, IT governance, cloud transformation, industrial automation, digital initiatives and IT-OT integration. His experience is particularly relevant for organisations where connected operational environments and critical infrastructure require strong coordination between technology modernisation and cyber risk management.
His cybersecurity responsibilities will also involve engagement with industry stakeholders, regulatory institutions and government agencies, including CERT-In, with a focus on improving cyber resilience, strengthening compliance frameworks and addressing evolving technology risks.
The appointment reflects the growing importance of technology leadership in the energy sector, where digital platforms, connected industrial systems and cybersecurity are increasingly intertwined with business continuity and operational resilience.
